Satellite nadir-viewing geometry affects the magnitude and detectability of long-term trends in stratospheric ozone

Published in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2025

This paper shows how uncertainties in downward-looking spaceborne retrievals (for instance SBUV) affect the degree of confidence placed in long-term trends in lower stratospheric ozone, with important implications for the longest historical records about the ozone hole and its recovery.

Climatology and structure of cut-off lows in the north Atlantic

Published:

Talk at NOAA’s Center for Satellite Applications and Research COoperative Research Program workshop, discussing the thermal structure of cut-off lows in the north Atlantic derived from COSMIC GPS radio occultation temperature retrievals, and including a climatology of cut-off low tracks made –by hand– with great care and effort by John A. Knaff
